Core Athletics is an elite level tumbling, stunting, and performance company specialized in the sport of cheerleading. We work on-site with high school and middle school cheerleading teams across the state of Michigan. Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

As a Core Athletics (CA) Drills Specialist you are seen as some of the top cheerleading coaching staff in the state of Michigan. In this role, you will act as the expert for all drills and conditioning exercises at any given class. You should handle being given a tumbling skill and have a list of drills and conditioning exercises that correlate to that specific skill. You are picky with details and can critique the form of each skill, drill, and exercise. 

 

For this role, any background in cheerleading or gymnastics is required. To ensure the safety of our athletes and instructors, a background check will be required to work in this environment (with high school and middle school student-athletes). All new drill specialists will go through a training/shadowing process to learn our class structure and coaching expectations. Each new specialist will be evaluated before being expected to coach a class without assistance. As a Drill Specialist, you’ll coach classes on a crew with two-three other instructors, including a Head Instructor (H.I. or crew leader) and a Class Instructor. 

 

A Day In The Life:

On a given day, you will be required to check our Google Calendar to see what schools you are assigned for that day. You will be expected to drive yourself to the schools you are assigned to (or have reliable means of transportation). During classes, you will be required to follow instructions from your crew’s Head Instructor (HI) and expedite the seasonal class structure. During classes, you are expected to facilitate in a positive and inspirational, leader-like manner.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in tumbling (Cheerleading or Gymnastics background)

  • Any past experience in coaching (bonus for experience for coaching high school and/or middle school athletes)

  • Pass a background check 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Working car to drive yourself to and from schools (or reliable transportation)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sports minded/competitive nature

  • Passion for people and student-athlete development

  • Work well in small groups

  • Work well with high school/middle school student-athletes

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Willingness to learn

  • Digital proficiency

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate drills and exercises for specific skills athletes are working towards

  • Communicate with crew members and coaches to gain an understanding of what coaches are looking for in their athletes and accommodate those needs at each school/class

  • Check our class schedule daily to see which schools you are assigned to

  • Know and facilitate the class structure (learned and evaluated during training/shadowing process)

  • Follow instructions from your crew’s Head Instructor for day-to-day management

  • Submit class attendance (if needed)

  • Attend all instructor meetings and weekly phone conference calls.

 

Pay:

LEVEL 1 (Entry Level) Staff

90-min class: $25

60 min class: $16

  • $25 per 90-min class

  • $16 per 60-min class
