Organization Background:
Core Athletics is an elite-level tumbling, stunting, and performance company specialized in the sport of cheerleading. We work on-site with high school and middle school cheerleading teams across the state of Michigan. Throughout all of our products and services, we strive to create an environment that promotes a positive coach and athlete experience while setting a foundation that drives teams to their fullest potential.
Core Athletics Summer Camps is an exceptionally unique part of our company. Our summer camps are known for their high energy, fun, colligate-style material, and unforgettable experiences created by our inspirational, leader-like staff. Our camps are residential (overnight) camps held on university campuses throughout the Michigan and northern Ohio area. Some camps are expected to host upwards of 500 athletes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Core Athletics (CA) Summer Camp Advisor your role is crucial to ensuring athletes and coaches receive the full Core Athletics Summer Camp experience. Your role starts beyond the mat (instruction time) as a team's personal CA representative and leadership expert. During camp, you will work to educate athletes on what it means to be a cheerleader through the lens of a leader and guide teams through challenging discussions, leadership activities, and team-building exercises. Additionally, you are knowledgeable about the daily agenda of the camp and are able to communicate changes to the coaches and athletes, as well as fellow advisors and instructors. Each night of camp you will serve as support staff for athletes and coaches in the residence halls and hold late-night team discussions (up to the discretion of the team coach).
Each summer camp advisor will be required to attend our three spring training dates (late May and early June) and our summer "work week" (late June) to learn about the camp advisor role, expectations, camp material, and more. Our camps are held late July and early August.
Minimum Qualifications:

Past experience in advising, facilitating or leadership mentoring

Reliable means of transportation to and from camps, trainings

Commitment to all trainings and camp dates

High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:

Sports-minded & leader-minded personality

Passion for people and student-athlete development

Work well in both small and large groups

Work well with high school and middle school student-athletes

Strong verbal communication skills
Special Conditions:

Navigating intense discussions when facilitating, debriefing or in late-night group discussions

Overnight residential camps mean you will be housed away from home for the extent of camps, and trainings
Responsibilities:
-
Attend all spring training dates and Work Week to learn camp expectations and material.

Act and conduct yourself as a leader within the cheerleading industry both inside and outside of camps.

Know, facilitate and demonstrate camp material to high school and middle school student-athletes.

Be an expert on the ins and outs of the camp and camp schedule

Provide positive coaching instruction

Provide support to athletes and fellow staff members during camp (Team-Player Attitude)
Pay:
Staff pay: $250 per residential camp
